Start Off Barcelona with the G-Dog

Barcelona. Amazing city. If you ever go to Barcelona and Im sorry to say this, but are a younger person, stay in a saint jordi hostel. They are amazing. Specifically I stayed in sagrada familia. Its pretty much a skateboarding place. But any of them are good. My whole time in Barcelona was spent booking a night, saying I was leaving the next day and then just booking another night. Eventually nobody believed I was leaving, one remark was that theyd come back in 2 years and I would still be there. Which is why Im on a train on my way out, but if I wasn't trying to do a Europe trip I would stay in Spain and just travel around there.
Anyway it was a week in Barcelona so yet again I am going to try to do a summary. The first night I got in I ended up just doing the normal settle in, try not to smell and take a shower thing, and ended up meeting 2 american girls who were in my room. We bonded over an awkward situation and from there went to the magic fountain together. No we were not on drugs, there is a magic fountain similar to the fountain in las vegas except way lamer. The music, lights, and sprayed levels of water are all choreographed together, except here I kinda think somebody just hit random buttons to just make sure the water moved on a beat in the music, not much effort involved. I apologize to anybody I just insulted or whos favorite part of Barcelona is the magic fountain.
To jump ahead the nextish day I wandered the city with an long time family friend who is studying overseas here. He actually is studying architecture so I had the coolest tour guide, who told me about all the stories and meaning behind everything and all these little hidden things in the city. The whole thing just pushed me yet again towards wanting to be an architect. Course we did also discuss that he was about to graduate and how dang hard it is to find an architecture job anymore. Either way it was a very fun, learning day with a lot of pictures taken. I do apologize for my lack of photos, although I love photography its been a struggle to bother taking my camera out since I just want to experience it and not really look like a tourist. Sometimes I do go backwards in my blog and add pictures to random posts so at anytime if you want to just start flipping back quick through it you can glimpse some later posted pictures.
The result of this amazing tour was that when I later went back to the same locations in the week that followed with people I had met and who hadn't been there I managed to achieve sounding like a know it all and trying to squeeze out everything I could remember. In the end I managed to go back to most places at least 3 or 4 times while in Barcelona. By far the coolest place I still think was the fountain in the park, which had gold, marble, stone, water, everything and everything green and beautiful and big. Not that great of a description Ill admit but everytime I came back my mind was blown. My favorite architect now has officially become Gaudi or as i like to call him, G-man or G-dog since I manage to butcher his name every time. He was utterly fantastic. Any trip around Barcelona you will manage to run into so many of his works. They are very clearly and distinctively Gaudi too, once youve seen one you will be able to distinguish the rest. At one point we were even wandering the city at random to get lost in order to pecur some sweatshirts and ran into a couple buildings that didn't seem to be on display or anything but were very Gaudied.

  2. I am so offended at your fountain comment I think I might have to stop reading your posts :P Juuust kidding! Bahaha we saw a fountain like that while we were all in Peru visiting Suzanne. It was super cool!!!! I'm glad that you're finding some architecture inspiration over there and I kinda cracked up when you were talking about mispronouncing that guys name >_< I read it like the word Gaudy, which kind of just cracks me up considering context. I'll have to go back and check out some of the photos you posted in earlier blog entries! Just as a side note Brent Weeks (the author of The Night Angel triolgy) had another book out that I purchased this week. So far its good but I think I still like Kylar/Night Angel better. ANYWAY looking forward to another post from you and maybe a skype date soon...if we can get the timing right xD <3 <3 <3
